My favorite book this month - and maybe for the whole year - is The Library of Unruly Treasures by Jeanne Birdsall. Simply delightful. Though it deals with difficult subjects (eleven year old Gwen is passed between divorced parents who are much more interested in themselves than they are Gwen...) it is an exceptional tale of resilience and courage along the lines of Lewis' Narnia books. Why yes, there is a magical world but you don't have to go through a wardrobe to get there. It exists at the library. There are also a few spooky picture books for October! Zombie and Brain are Friends is very cute! I think both Island Storm and Little Rebels have Caldecott potential. Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell is a YA graphic novel that has been on my TBR forever. It was delightful!
November is non-fiction November plus Picture Book month! Whoa.
Enjoy the fall weather before winter sets in, if you can!
